Being a Spanish teacher...and from Texas...and having quite the affinity for any good tequila (can't help myself), cinco de mayo has always been a favorite holiday of mine. Though my Spanish scholar side occasionally tries to knock me down a few notches reminding me that this isn't really a real holiday, the other 99% of me could care less. Cinco de mayos (did you know you don't capitalize Spanish months? Spanish teacher tip of the day) of old have included the likes of guzzling margaritas, too many tequila shots and my bed (or some other horizontal surface) rather early in the day, but now that I'm a very more mature 26, I think the idea of having a civilized cinco de mayo party sounds like much more fun. And the perfect occasion to dress up! With a paper flower wreathe in your hair or not...up to you. While I'll be on the coast celebrating Cinco de Kitty (ole!) in a bather, I leave you with a few of my would-be Cinco de mayo fiesta inspirations - obviously the eat section is the longest, welcome to my life. Hope y'all are breaking out the maracas and lime squeezer tomorrow!
And in case you're interested, here's a vid on how to make paper flowers. Feliz día!
I'm Cassie and this is my blog about life in Houston, Texas. A marketing guru by day and fashion and food lover by night, I've created this space to share what I find (and adore) on l'internet. I am completely obsessed with my family and friends, pup Mollie, and good crispy sauv b…among a few other things, of course. Come hang - I hope you'll stay awhile!
